The Speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives, Todd Richardson, kicked off the state’s 2017 legislative session with opening remarks on how Missouri can improve its education system to meet the demands of today’s 21st century economy.
In a moving speech, Speaker Richardson focused on the importance of expanding school choice and increasing student access to a wide variety of online and classroom course offerings.
“But, no matter what we do in other areas, to ensure Missouri remains a state of opportunity, we must create an education system for the 21st century…”
“During this session, we will work to increase access to high performing charter schools. We will work to expand course offerings through virtual education. And we will work to make education savings accounts available to parents and students most in need. These changes should not be about administrators or school buildings, but only about creating opportunities for a generation of young Missourians who have been left behind.”
