“Oklahoma’s Math Achievement and Proficiency Act is a significant, research-backed plan to boost math achievement across the state. This important legislation prioritizes early screening and timely intervention for students in early grades, helping to catch learning gaps before they widen and putting every student on a stronger path toward math proficiency.
“This bill also recognizes and responds to the critical need for advanced learning opportunities. Students who exceed grade-level expectations will have access to more rigorous coursework and enrichment, while those who need extra support will receive individualized intervention plans tailored to their needs. This two-pronged approach will help Oklahoma close persistent achievement gaps and raise the bar for all students.
“Oklahoma lawmakers deserve recognition for putting students first and taking action to address long-standing challenges in math performance. We are grateful to Sen. Ally Seifried, Rep. Toni Hasenbeck, Rep. Anthony Moore and legislative leaders for their commitment to high-quality, evidence-based instruction and access to learning opportunities for all Sooner State students.”
