Iowa Legislature Strengthens Early Literacy

Iowa

Gov. Jeb Bush, Founder and Chairman of ExcelinEd in Action, issued the following statement praising Iowa legislators for passing early literacy legislation:

“This new legislation represents a strong commitment to Iowa’s young readers, and it means families, students and educators statewide can expect a better, more comprehensive approach to early literacy. By ensuring every struggling reader gets individualized support and every teacher receives training in evidence-based instruction, Iowa is establishing a strong foundation for excellence in early literacy and long-term success in education.

“Thank you, Gov. Kim Reynolds, for your vision and leadership. Thanks also to Senate President Amy Sinclair, Sen. Ken Rozenboom, Sen. Jeff Taylor, House Speaker Pat Grassley, Rep. Skyler Wheeler and Rep. Thomas Moore for spearheading this important work. Together, you are ensuring all kids in the Hawkeye State have the support and tools they need to learn to read—and then read to learn.”
