Governor Noem Expands Education Opportunities for South Dakota Students

South Dakota

Statement from Alice Neira, ExcelinEd in Action Senior Legislative Affairs Associate, on Governor Kristi Noem signing the Partners in Education Tax Credit Program expansion for more economically disadvantaged students to participate.

“Every child deserves a chance to succeed, no matter their family’s income or where they live. We must empower families by giving them options to create stable and continuous learning for their children, especially in the aftermath of a pandemic.

“ExcelinEd in Action applauds Governor Kristi Noem, Senator Jim Stalzer and Speaker Pro Tempore Jon Hansen for their commitment to expanding educational opportunities for more South Dakota families.”

The bill repeals the requirement that a student must attend a public school prior to participating in the program and eliminates grade eligibility for a tax credit scholarship.
