Today, Ashley DeMauro Mullins, ExcelinEd in Action regional legislative director, released the following statement on Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf’s veto of the expansion of educational choice.
“We are disappointed that Governor Tom Wolf chose to deny expanding education options for Pennsylvania’s students. His decision has shut the door on thousands of low- and middle- income families trying to find a better educational fit for their children.
“Despite this setback, the momentum for educational choice in Pennsylvania is strong. The waiting list to participate in the Education Improvement Tax Credit program continues to grow. We remain hopeful that lawmakers will continue to prioritize empowering parents and students with educational opportunity and take this critical step that will change their lives.
“We thank Speaker Mike Turzai, the Pennsylvania General Assembly and the many other partners for their leadership, commitment and tireless advocacy on behalf of Pennsylvania’s students.”
