Earlier today, Pennsylvania State Senator John DiSanto – with the support of Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati and Senate Education Committee Chairman John Eichelberger – unveiled new legislation to expand educational opportunities for thousands of commonwealth families.
The legislation would establish an Education Savings Account (ESA) program to provide Pennsylvania’s most underserved students access to new educational opportunities, allowing their parents to customize an education that best serves their needs.
Pennsylvania State Senator John DiSanto, prime sponsor of legislation to establish an education savings account program, addresses members of the media at a press conference.
Education Savings Accounts are an innovative choice program that give families the financial resources to choose the right school or learning environment for their child. An ESA program allows parents to create an entirely customized educational experience, where the ultimate goal is maximizing each child’s natural learning abilities.
Across the nation, parents in Florida, Arizona, Mississippi and Tennessee have been able to access education savings accounts and direct funds to support their child’s learning with educational options like therapies, online education, tutoring, dual enrollment and private school tuition.
We commend Pennsylvania state leaders for their work to ensure that children have access to a quality and customized education that will prepare them for success.
