Idaho Governor Little Signs Student-Centered Bill Creating Empowering Parents Grant Program

Idaho

Today, Governor Brad Little signed SB 1255, which establishes the Empowering Parents Grant Program to provide $50 million of emergency federal COVID relief funds to supplement a student’s education. Qualifying families may receive up to $3,000 to use for tutoring, educational material, digital devices or internet connectivity.

Governor Jeb Bush, founder and chairman of ExcelinEd in Action, commended Governor Little:

“Governor Little’s forward-thinking, student-centered investments in students – not bureaucracy – will allow Idaho’s students to receive the individualized learning experience they deserve. Parents all over the country are asking their state and local leaders for flexibility like this to support their children’s education, and today, Idahoans will be the first in the nation to codify these COVID relief funds for expanded learning options.”
