The Indiana Senate approved legislation (HB1065) allowing school districts and non-virtual public charter schools to share local tax dollars.
Zach Eckert, ExcelinEd in Action regional legislative director, said, “This bold action makes it clear that districts can – and should – share the local tax dollars to ensure all public schools serving Indiana students and families receive equitable funding. Charter schools are public schools and deserve access to affordable facilities. Creating and sustaining avenues for the equitable funding of facilities ensures charter schools can invest their limited dollars more effectively in teachers and students.
“ExcelinEd in Action thanks Senator Linda Rogers for her leadership and applauds all Indiana senators who voted in favor of placing the educational needs of students first.”
