Governor Chris Sununu laid out a strong vision for New Hampshire students in his State of the State Address. The “Live Free or Die” state is taking steps towards providing families the freedom to find the right educational fit for students via Education Freedom Savings Accounts.
“I think we can all agree that a one-size-fits all approach doesn’t always work for each student, which is why our education system must give parents choice and flexibility. Education Savings Accounts will be our most significant step yet, in giving parents and children the ability to choose the education path that is best suited for them.” – Governor Chris Sununu, New Hampshire
Senate Bill 193, which is currently being considered by the House Finance Committee, creates flexible accounts that allow parents to design an educational program that fits the needs of their unique child. Eligible uses could include tuition at another public school outside their district, tutoring, online learning, textbooks, educational therapies, tuition at a private school and other education-related services and products. If passed, New Hampshire would become the sixth state to offer education savings accounts.
We applaud Gov. Sununu and thank him for his desire to provide high-quality educational opportunities for students across New Hampshire.
