In an historic change that makes Arizona a national model in empowering families with the power of choice, students of all backgrounds will be able to find the right educational option to fit their child’s unique needs after the Arizona Legislature approved Senate Bill 1431today.
Arizona’s Empowerment Scholarship Accounts (ESAs) are an innovative way to bring customization to K-12 education. With an ESA, parents are able to direct education funding for their child to the schools, courses, programs and services of their choice.
The bill heads to Gov. Doug Ducey for his signature to become law.
“Today is an historic day for families in students throughout Arizona which has established itself as a national leader in providing true school choice. By expanding the ESA program, all Arizona families will have the power to invest in the best educational services for their child, enhancing their path to success in careers and in life.
“We thank Governor Doug Ducey, Senate President Steve Yarbrough and House Speaker J.D. Mesnard for their leadership on behalf of all Arizona families. We applaud Senator Debbie Lesko and House Majority Leader John Allen for sponsoring this legislation to ensure every Arizona student has the opportunity to pursue their dreams.” – Patricia Levesque, ExcelinEd in Action Executive Director
