TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, a group of bipartisan Colorado legislators – Senator Owen Hill, Representative Angela Williams and Representative Lang Sias – announced the “All Students Are Equal” Education Opportunity Act. This legislation would ensure equal funding for both public charter schools and traditional public schools, along with school facility support and access.
“The “All Students Are Equal” Education Opportunity Act is great news to the tens of thousands of public charter school students in Colorado. These public charter schools, which are providing individualized education, will be able to access and provide more resources for learning, just like traditional public schools,” said ExcelinEd in Action National Legislative Director J. Alex Kelly. “This legislation will put public charters on a level playing field by ensuring all Colorado public schools are treated equally. We commend Senator Owen Hill, Representative Angela Williams and Representative Lang Sias for working to bring equitable funding and facility support to public charter schools. We also thank Colorado Succeeds and the Colorado League of Charter Schools for their work to support this legislation.”
The bill will be heard in the Senate Education Committee in the coming weeks.
